# Lyrics missing or out of sync

> The project server finds the lyrics, so new tracks get them later

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the lyrics">
    Click the microphone icon in the player, or press **L**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Lyrics are still being searched: wait">
    For a new track the search can take a few minutes. Then click **Retry**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Lyrics not found: search by hand">
    Click the magnifier icon at the top right. In **Manual Search** fix the artist and the title and click **Search**.

    Lyrics found this way are not saved: next time you play the track, search again.

  <Step title="Could not load lyrics: retry">
    Click **Retry**. Still failing: [Network check](/en/fix/network-check).

  <Accordion title="Lyrics lag behind the music or are the wrong ones" icon="clock" id="out-of-sync">
    The source is shown at the top left: LRCLib, Musixmatch, Genius, NetEase or **AI Transcribed**. If a track has no timed lyrics, the server fits plain text to the audio itself, so lines can drift.

  <Accordion title="Highlight the whole line, not word by word" icon="highlighter" id="highlight">
    Open **Settings -> Audio -> Playback -> Lyrics highlight** and choose **Whole line**.

    In **Light** mode the whole line is always highlighted.

  <Accordion title="Show the lyrics in your Discord status" icon="discord" iconType="brands" id="discord">
    Open **Settings -> Integrations -> Discord Rich Presence** and turn on **Lyrics in status**. **Display mode** must be **Track** or **Artist**.

    Discord updates the status about every 5 seconds, so short lines can be skipped. [Discord status step by step](/en/use/integrations)
