Wait 10-20 seconds, then quit completely and start again

  1. Click ^ next to the clock.
  2. Right-click the SoundCloud Desktop icon.
  3. Choose Quit.
Still running or no window at all: Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) -> end soundcloud-desktop.exe (portable: soundcloud-desktop-portable.exe) and msedgewebview2.exe.

Restart the computer

Then start SoundCloud Desktop.

Using the portable version? Use the installer instead

It installs WebView2 by itself.

Install WebView2 from Microsoft, even if Windows says it is there

  1. Open the WebView2 page on the Microsoft site.
  2. Download the Evergreen Standalone Installer, version x64.
  3. Right-click the file -> Run as administrator.
  4. Restart the computer.
You do not need Edge for this.

Still white: remove WebView2 and install it again

Open Windows Settings -> Apps, remove Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, restart the computer and repeat step 4. Not in the list: skip this step.

The installer says WebView2 is already installed

Save the registry first: Win+R, regedit, File -> Export.
Delete these three keys in regedit. Skip a key that does not exist.
Then run the WebView2 installer as administrator again and restart the computer.

Turn off your VPN, proxy in TUN mode, AdGuard and the antivirus web shield

Start the app. It works: add soundcloud-desktop.exe and msedgewebview2.exe to the exclusions of that program and turn it back on.

Turn on software rendering

Do you see the sign-in screen? Click Continue without signing in: Settings open without signing in.Turn on Settings -> Appearance -> Performance -> Software rendering and click Restart now.Then choose Light in the same section: without the GPU, the CPU has to draw the effects. Windows and Linux only.Update the graphics driver. The window is completely blank: step 10.

Reset the app data

Downloaded tracks are deleted and you will need to sign in again.
  1. Quit the app completely, as in step 1.
  2. Paste %LOCALAPPDATA% into the File Explorer address bar and delete the folder com.soundcloud.desktop. Do the same for %APPDATA%. Or uninstall the app with Delete the application data ticked.
  3. Install the app again:

Nothing helped and the window draws nothing at all

  1. Quit the app completely, as in step 1.
  2. Press Win+R, type cmd, press Enter.
  3. Paste the command and press Enter:
  4. Start the app.
To undo, delete the file render_mode.json from %APPDATA%\com.soundcloud.desktop.
This is the app’s own check. Click Yes: the Microsoft page opens. Then steps 4-6.
End every soundcloud-desktop.exe: a hidden copy blocks a new start. Then steps 3-6. On LTSC and stripped builds WebView2 is usually missing.

Attach your Windows version (Win+R, winver), which file you installed, whether the WebView2 box appeared, and desktop.log: it exists even when the window is white.
